ROAMING
Setting sail into the wide waters, beyond Poland’s borders? Or looking to call an international number? Find out how to stay in touch with your crew!
European Union
Conquer the EU and stay connected with the Vikings.
When you're on a Subscription and using the network in the European Union, it’s as simple as paddling! Voice calls, SMS, and MMS made while roaming in the EU are treated as domestic, so you incur no additional charges. And what about the internet? You can use part of your domestic data package (see below).
Call | SMS/MMS | Internet |
---|---|---|
0,00zł | 0,00zł | 0,00 zł within the GB limit in the EU |
Emergency number 112 | 0,00 PLN |

Planning to stay abroad for longer than 4 months? Check the Fair Usage Policy.
How many GB can you use while roaming in the EU?
Your Subscription:
In the European Union, you can use a specified portion of your domestic data limit without any additional charges. The limit resets on the first day of each month. You can find detailed information in the Price List.
What if you use up all your GB?
You have two options to choose from.
Is your data package running out and you know you'll need more gigabytes? You can purchase Internet Packages for Poland and gain extra data to use in the European Union (10 GB in Poland, including 2.37 GB in the EU, or 100 GB in Poland, including 9.47 GB in the EU).
There’s also a second option! You can refill your Balance and use data according to the Price List. This option might be more beneficial if you're not interested in a larger data package.
What if you run out of funds in your Balance?
The internet will say "Bye, bye" or "Ciao, Roma!"...
You can prevent this by enabling the Automatic Refill option. The funds in your Balance will automatically renew when they drop below 5 PLN. You can also refill the Balance manually at any time!
In the Pay-as-you-go Offer at Mobile Vikings, you have unlimited voice calls, SMS, and MMS throughout Poland. When abroad, you use the service according to the Price List, and the charges are deducted from your Balance. Remember to refill it up in advance. Without funds, the internet won’t flow!

How to turn on roaming?
Enabling roaming on your phone may vary depending on the device. However, the process is generally similar:
- Go to the Settings on your smartphone.
- Find the option for Mobile Networks, Connections, or Network.
- Enable the Data Roaming option.
Remember to also enable the Automatic Network Selection option in the Network Operators section. This ensures that your phone connects to the best-optimized network in the area.

What is The Fair Usage Policy?
The Fair Usage Policy outlines the rules regarding who is eligible to use roaming services within the European Union. According to this policy, we may apply additional charges if:
- During a 4-month period (the observation period), your number connects more frequently to EU roaming partners' networks than to Polish networks, or if your usage in roaming exceeds that in Poland. Before applying additional charges, you will receive an SMS from us, giving you 2 weeks to adjust your usage balance. If the balance does not change, we will apply the extra charges. These charges will remain active until your usage balance in roaming on your number changes.
- You consecutively use multiple SIM cards in roaming.
- Your SIM cards are being resold in an organized manner to individuals who do not reside in Poland or do not have lasting ties to the country.
You can check the amount of possible surcharges in the price list of your offer.
How to Refill your Balance?
The easiest way is through the Viking App! Go to the Viking’s deck in the app, then click on Refill. The rest of the simple steps will be explained in the Viking App.
You can also Refill your Balance on the Viking Account. Log in and click on Refill Balance.
The added funds remain valid as long as your number is active, but they do not extend the validity of your number. You can choose an amount between 5 PLN and 300 PLN.
How does Automatic Refill for Balance work?
Automatic Refill ensures service continuity. It prevents your Balance from running out and protects you from losing access to the internet and calls while abroad.
To set up Automatic Refill, activate it in the Roaming section of the Viking App and set the threshold and Refill amount. When the Balance falls below the set threshold, funds will automatically be added by the specified amount from your linked payment card.
Good to know: Automatic Refill and Auto Top-up are two different things. Now you know how the first option works! You can read about Auto Top-up here.

Free Access to Emergency Services in EU Roaming
In EU roaming, you have free access to emergency services:
- By calling the European emergency number 112.
- Through alternative access methods available in the respective EU member states, which can also be used by people with disabilities. For example: emergency apps, text messages, relay services, real-time text communication, or full conversation services.
Some EU member states have also introduced mobile apps that provide public alerts.
Expense Control
According to telecommunications law, we are obligated to protect you from unintended spending on Premium services. Therefore, a default limit of 35 PLN per month is applied. If you prefer, we can enable a full block, increase the limit, or completely remove it.
We also apply a block on data transmission in roaming. It activates automatically after you have used data roaming services worth 266 PLN (including tax) in a given billing period.
We will notify you via SMS when:
- You use 80% of your limit,
- Your bill approaches 100% of the limit (50 euros).
If you reach the limit, we will block data transmission, but other services—calls and SMS—will remain available.

Quality of Services in Roaming
We collaborate with the largest mobile operators worldwide. This gives you access to the best roaming and data packages abroad, with service quality comparable to what we offer in your home country. Voice calls, SMS, MMS, and data transmission are provided at the highest possible speeds, in line with the technology available in the specific location. This applies to both prepaid roaming and Subscription services.
Border zone
When you are near the border, your phone may automatically connect to a foreign network, which involves different charges than in Poland. To avoid unnecessary costs, we recommend using only Polish network operators.
If you connect to a foreign network, we will send you an SMS with information about the applicable roaming rates.
How to avoid connecting to a foreign network?
- Turn off roaming during your stay abroad.
- Set your phone to manually select a network to ensure you always use a Polish network.
