Phone Number Assignment: What is it?
Simply put, assignment is a change of phone number ownership. It means transferring the rights and obligations arising from the contract from one entity to another. The rules of assignment are determined by the contract or the operator's terms and conditions, and you can get specific information by contacting customer service.
Phone number assignment most often concerns changes in data:
- from an individual to another individual, e.g., when you want to change mobile operators;
- from an individual to a company/cooperative (or vice versa), e.g., when you part ways with your employer;
- after the subscriber's death, if you want to keep the number.
Assignment When Transferring a Phone Number
Most often, future Vikings think about assignment when they want to change operators. That's when they remember that the phone number isn't registered in their name. And the law requires that during a number transfer, the owner's data must be 100% consistent. In such a situation, the only solution is assignment. After updating the data, you can place an order with the new operator yourself.
However, you don't want to waste time going to physical stores and/or contacting your current operator. At the end of this article, you'll find information on how you can easily transfer and assign a number in Mobile Vikings.
How much does number assignment cost and how to do it?
Each mobile operator has information regarding the assignment procedure in its terms and conditions. You can find a template for the number assignment document on their website. In most cases, a visit to a physical store by the current and new owner is required.
Below you'll find instructions for assignment with several Polish operators.
Number Assignment in Play
To become the owner of the number, you should:
- Find the nearest store on this map: https://www.play.pl/nowy/pomoc/dla-kupujacych/mapa-salonow.
- Sign the documents together with the current owner.
Assignment in Play is paid, and the cost depends on the offer. The change will take effect on the day the documents are signed or at the beginning of a new billing cycle.
Number Assignment in Orange
To change the owner of the number:
- Find one of the Orange stores: https://salony.orange.pl/pl
- Sign all required documents with the current owner of the number.
The cost of assigning a number on a post-paid plan is PLN 99 (as of the end of 2022) and is the same even for multiple numbers. Transferring ownership of a pre-paid number costs PLN 50 (as of the end of 2022). During your visit, a consultant will inform you about the order processing time.
Assignment in Plus
You can request assignment in the following way:
- Find the nearest store using the map: https://www.plus.pl/mapa-salonow
- Go to the store together with the current owner of the number and fill out the required documents.
Plus charges PLN 30.75 for assignment (as of the end of 2022), and the change will be implemented within 7 days.
Number Assignment in T-mobile
If you want to change the owner of the number:
- Find the nearest store on the map: https://www.t-mobile.pl/c/mapa-salonow
- Go to T-mobile with the current owner of the number.
