Mosquitoes. Another piece of evidence that the year 2020 should be erased from the history books as soon as it ends. 🤦♀️ Something has gotten into them this season! A buzzing fleet descends upon anyone who entertains the utterly ridiculous idea of spending a warm summer afternoon in nature. On Mosquito Day, we've decided to declare war on them. Want to join the fight? 🗡️We'll equip you with a unique weapon!
‼️ ATTENTION! The interest in the birdhouses has exceeded our wildest expectations – all have already been given away. We have a feeling that next year, mosquitoes will be in serious trouble… 😉 ‼️
Some people spray themselves from head to toe with foul-smelling repellents, others rub themselves with lavender, geranium, or lemongrass oils. Still others plant large quantities of mosquito-repelling plants by their windows. 🌱 There are many strategies for fighting them, but they all have in common the fact that they are temporary measures that do not eliminate the cause. Meanwhile, we, the Vikings, like to act effectively. Here's our way to deal with mosquitoes – an alliance with a certain special little bird. 🦅
The Swift, Mosquito Slayer
Swifts are often mistaken for swallows. Despite their small size, these birds deserve the title of kings of the skies – no species can match them in flying skills. These daredevils practically live in the sky! ☁️ They sleep, drink, reproduce, and – most importantly for us – eat while flying. And what do they eat? Mosquitoes. Each feathered little one devours up to 20,000 insects a day. So… do you feel the potential as strongly as we do? 😈
You can learn more about swifts here. And now, let's get to action!

Vikings declare the month of the swift!
The swift population is growing. That is, we hope it will soon grow, because we recently dismantled an old drakkar and from the salvaged wood constructed dozens of birdhouses for swifts. So they can multiply rapidly and rid us of the mosquito plague next year. Do you want to have a family of flying mosquito assassins literally under your roof? 🏠 Sign up with us on Mosquito Day!

Mosquito Day falls on Thursday, August 20th. On this day, we will be waiting for you outside our Wrocław Command Center at Kościuszki Street 29 with a supply of swift houses. Just come between 10 AM and 8 PM, pick up a stylish wooden birdhouse for free, and then follow the instructions attached to it, which we are also pasting below at your request:
How to attract a swift?
- Paint the outside of the birdhouse with protective paint. Wood paint, you know. You can draw a helmet and a drakkar. ⛵
- Place the birdhouse at a height of at least 6 meters FROM THE GROUND. Its entrance SHOULD NOT face south. Vikings and swifts come from the north! 🧭
- Arm yourself with patience. The breeding season for swifts begins in May, and they will then occupy the prepared habitat. Install the birdhouse at the TURN OF MARCH AND APRIL. 📅
- Swifts are very clean – you don't need to clean up after them. They are not messy swallows! ❌💩
- Take a photo and show off your birdhouse on Instagram or Facebook using the tag #VikingBirdArmy ⚔️
- Enjoy freedom from subscriptions and mosquitoes, of which each bird eats up to a thousand (mosquitoes, not subscriptions) daily. 🍴
It's also worth remembering that swifts are social birds and like to nest in colonies, so it's best to hang several or even a dozen birdhouses on one building (next to each other, not one above the other).
Viking Przemysław
Let's take care of the swifts, and they will repay us by bringing relief from annoying buzzes and itchy bites. This is a truly Viking way to deal with mosquitoes – by helping, cooperating, acting smartly, and thinking long-term! Are you joining us? 💪
Ahoy to mosquitoes!
