Forget complicated PINs, codes, and passwords. A new era in online payments is coming. "Selfie Pay" – an application that allows for verification of online purchases using a facial photo – is a new proposal from MasterCard presented during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.
Do you like shopping online because it's a fast and convenient solution, but you forget your verification password or PIN every time? We have the same problem. But better times are coming for us! Soon, we'll be authorizing online purchases using a "selfie." How will it work?
The first step after making a purchase will be the standard completion of the card details form. Then, we will be redirected to the application, which will perform a scan of our face. If the data verified this way matches, the payment will be confirmed. Using a ready-made photo of another person won't work! "Selfie Pay," when taking each photo, simultaneously asks us to blink our eyes.
According to research conducted by MasterCard, over half of those surveyed forget their passwords during online payments and would gladly use a more convenient, yet still secure, form of data verification. The application should therefore quickly conquer the market.
In addition to "Selfie Pay," the company is also testing the possibility of authorizing payments using fingerprint recognition, voice chord recognition, and iris scanning.
Soon, our lives will become even more enjoyable!
