Viking, do you want to take a screenshot on your phone to save content you're watching online for later? Or maybe you need to record your screen on Android? And create a step-by-step guide on how to install an app that will help you reach your goal? In any of these situations, it's good to know how to record your phone screen with sound or take a so-called screenshot. Our guide will help you with this, both using special apps and without them. See for yourself!
Take a screenshot on your Android phone – it’s trivial!
You can take a screenshot on virtually any smartphone. You don't need any additional tools, apps, or Viking-level skills for this. If you have an Android phone, open the screen with the content you want to save in the screenshot. For example, our guide 😉 The screenshot option might work differently on various phone models. Therefore, try one of the methods we describe below.
- Press the power button and the volume down button at the same time.
- The second option is to hold down the power button for a few seconds, and then select the "screenshot" option. You'll find a preview of the screenshot either in the bottom left corner or at the top of the screen (in the notification area). The screenshot itself is saved in your photo gallery.
Simple, right?
Scrolling screenshot
You can also take a scrolling screenshot. It can fit a whole horde of Vikings! However, this option doesn't work on Android 11, only from version 12 upwards. How to do it? It's trivial, every Viking can do it.
- Take a regular screenshot.
- Then, at the bottom, click "capture more content".
- Select the content you want to save, using the cropping function.
Recording your smartphone screen
How to record your phone screen? It's just as easy! Want to record a clip from the Viking Saga movie you're watching on your smartphone? Or maybe you need to record how to install an app? Or create a tutorial on your phone by recording it? In all these cases, you can use the screen recording function on Android phones. Of course, Apple devices also have this function. However, it works a bit differently on them. We wrote about recording your iPhone screen some time ago on our blog. Head over there quickly to learn more.
How to enable screen recording? Nothing simpler!
- Swipe down from the top of the screen. This will expand the menu with additional quick settings options in the top bar.
- Find and select the "screen record" button there.
- On the screen, set up what you want to record. This could be, for example, any video on YouTube that you play using mobile internet on your phone.
- Click to start recording. It will begin a few seconds after you click. You'll see a countdown in the middle of the phone.
- If you want to start recording the screen with sound, you need to select this option beforehand. You can do this in the settings at the top of the recording menu. There, click on the button to record with system audio. Depending on your Android version, it might also be an option to select "media sound".
- To end the recording, swipe down from the top again and click "stop".
Recording the screen with external sound and button
You can also record external sound. This will allow you to record yourself explaining what you're doing on your phone while recording. This option will be particularly useful if you're recording tutorials for YouTube or Instagram. For example, how to operate a Viking boat or steer a ship! 😉
- Go to the quick settings menu. You'll find the appropriate button with microphone recording there.
- You can also use the option combined with system sound or mute the recording completely (by clicking "mute").
In addition to recording your Android screen with sound, you can also add screen touches to the video. They will appear as dynamic, disappearing dots. This is a great simplification, especially for tutorials! Every Viking will be grateful for it!
Screen recording app for Android
For some reason, screen recording on your phone isn't working? You don't have options for recording ambient sound? Don't worry – you can download an app from the Play Store. Screen recording apps for Android also have many more options. They will easily help you record images or video. Among the most downloaded apps are, for example:
- XRecorder,
- Mobizen,
- Vidma,
- AZ Recorder,
- AX Recorder.
Apps for recording phone calls
As you can see, taking screenshots or recording your screen as video can be useful. But what if you need to record a phone call? This is very helpful if you don't have a way to jot down important information during a conversation. After all, it's hard to write something down on paper when your boat is drifting on the high seas! So, how do you record phone calls? You can do this using special apps available on iOS and Android. We've already written about this on the blog. Be sure to check it out and have fun! Ahoy, adventure!
