Changes to the Telecommunications Law resulting from the Anti-Terrorism Act came into force on July 25, 2016. From that day on, every newly purchased prepaid card, popularly known as a prepaid card, must be registered immediately. This is a condition you must meet for the operator to activate it. Users of cards purchased and activated before July 25, 2016, also had a specific period for registration until February 1, 2017. If you missed that deadline then, you know why your phone suddenly went silent. The card ceased to be active.
– The reasons for introducing this act were justified; actions aimed at protecting citizens from terrorist activities should certainly be taken. Our role was not to evaluate it or to debate its provisions, as we had no influence on their shape. How to Register a SIM Card with Mobile Vikings?
To register a prepaid card, every Viking must go through two stages.
The first stage is to provide the personal data required by law – first and last name, and PESEL number. In the case of individuals without a PESEL number, it's the name, series, and number of the identity document. You can provide us with your data either electronically (via a form on our website for new users or in your individual account for existing Vikings) or in person – only during data verification.

In each of the above cases, you must present an identity document. A Mobile Vikings employee, a courier, or a Play network employee will check if the presented document belongs to you and if the data from that document matches the data previously provided in the electronic form or in your individual Viking account.

A Few Notes on SIM Card Registration
Data theft and identity theft is, unfortunately, a plague nowadays. Therefore, if someone asks you to send a scan or photocopy of your document to register a SIM card, don't do it. It could be an attempted crime, and it's better to report such an incident to the police.
If you are a parent or guardian, you can register a prepaid phone for your child who has reached the age of 13. You can complete the formalities using the data from the child's ID card or passport. If the child does not have such documents, the card will be registered under your data.
The law does not prohibit the sale of a registered SIM card, but it might be a bad decision, dear Viking. Someone could use your personal data and employ it in illegal activities. This could even lead to a summons to the police station and having to provide explanations. We won't even mention the scenario where you could be accused of complicity in a crime.
Problems can also arise if you bought someone else's card. If the seller keeps the card number or – worse – makes a duplicate, they will gain access to your call records or be able to impersonate you. The law does not interfere with SIM card transactions, but major online players are trying to do so by prohibiting the resale of SIM cards on their platforms.
