Can you imagine a world without new technologies and smartphones packed to the brim with mobile applications? It's hard, right? No wonder, because although some of them are for entertainment, the majority make life much easier. We could give countless examples. We've chosen 5 apps that, in our opinion, best fit the Vikings' slogan #LiveNoLimit and help overcome daily barriers.
➡ Waze
According to Deloitte data from 2016, we spend up to 9 hours a month stuck in traffic jams. That means 9 hours of stress, nerves, and wasted fuel. Waze, one of the largest navigation apps, was created to tackle this very problem, helping you break free from the limitations imposed by congested cities. Waze provides real-time traffic updates, helping its users reach their destinations on time. Similar to Mobile Vikings, the app relies on building a community of people who, in this case, share road events with other drivers. By using it, you can report accidents, police patrols, road hazards, or the cheapest places to refuel along your route.
➡ AirBnB
Have you always dreamed of your new home being a penthouse or a treehouse for a few days, but it seemed impossible to achieve? Nothing could be further from the truth! AirBnB is a popular app that acts as a gateway to the most interesting and unique places to stay in the world. Thanks to it, you can publish, discover, or book selected offers at reasonable prices directly from your tablet or phone, even at the last minute. It doesn't matter if it's an apartment for one night, a castle for a week, or a villa for a month. The app offers plenty of opportunities for renting accommodation suitable for any budget. In fact, the only limitation is your imagination.
➡ Google Translate
Google Translate, familiar to everyone, introduced a new feature some time ago – translating text from photos. This function is useful and incredibly helpful for those for whom foreign languages have been an insurmountable barrier so far, especially on vacation. From now on, to quickly translate a text, you no longer need to type it manually – just take a picture of it. The function works even when translating a language you can't even write a single letter of. All you need to do is precisely select the text fragment and decipher the message. Although users notice errors in the app, translating via photos is still a significant convenience when working with foreign languages. Google has accustomed internet users to improving all its services over time anyway. Another barrier has been overcome!
➡ Duo
Just a dozen or so years ago, people could only dream of calling someone on the other side of the world and being able to see them. Then Skype appeared, revolutionized communication, overcame real human limitations, and created a program that permanently became part of our lives. Last year, a competitor emerged – Google's messenger called Duo, which is much simpler to use and more reliable. You can make a call with just one click, and the clear interface displays video on the entire smartphone screen. Additionally, thanks to the Duo app's preview function, you can see who is calling even before answering. Now, even thousands of kilometers from home, you can "be" with your loved ones for a moment. And even those who complain that nothing can replace a real meeting will surely appreciate apps like Skype or Duo during longer separations from loved ones. The only limitation for users can be the time difference. An app hasn't been invented for that yet.
➡ Sunu Band
It's encouraging that more and more solutions are appearing on the market specifically for the elderly and people with disabilities, for whom technology can significantly simplify daily life. The Sunu Band is one of them. It's not a good-looking gadget, but a type of smart bracelet that allows blind individuals to easily avoid obstacles. The device communicates with the wearer through vibrations and sound signals, which enable the localization of obstacles using ultrasonic waves up to 5 meters away. With the bracelet and its tracking mode, you can control the distance to a guide or another person and check the time with a simple gesture.
Life imposes many limitations, but technology comes to our aid. It's up to you and your imagination to decide how you will use it to overcome further barriers. Do you have any favorite apps? Share them in the comments.
