Zero Day has arrived! We're joining forces again for a noble cause and sharing gigabytes. And that means the start of the 11th edition of Szalupy Ratunkowe (Lifeboats). The destination: helping parents navigate the challenges of parenthood ⛵. Find out how you can support them.
What are Szalupy Ratunkowe?
This is a recurring project that was created at the request of you, our Viking community. And since we are #AllForOurOwn, here you go 👌. Odin snapped his fingers and it's here!
As part of Szalupy Ratunkowe, we organize charity drives with a chosen organization. Each time, together with our Vikings, we decide on the theme of our voyage. This time, it's about helping parents who encounter sandbanks, sea monsters, and other adversities during the adventure of raising children.

How do Szalupy Ratunkowe work?
- Vikings fill the Lifeboats, meaning they donate their accumulated GB.
- Mobile Vikings converts the donated GB into gold, meaning Polish złoty.
- Together with a chosen organization, we do a good deed.

Where are we sailing now?
In the 11th edition of Szalupy Ratunkowe, we are sailing to help parents with the challenges of parenthood 🛟. More specifically, together we will support the Poradnia dla Rodziców Latarnia Morska (Parent Counseling Center Lighthouse), a project by the Fundacja Dajemy Dzieciom Siłę (We Give Children Strength Foundation). The funds raised will be allocated to individual and group support for parents of children up to 6 years old.
The foundation throws a lifeline to all parents seeking help in raising their children. Those who are a bit lost and tired. Those who are stressed and lonely. And also those who are using poor role models, for example, due to childhood deficits of love.
The counseling center takes parents on a sea voyage. It explains why children sometimes behave like little pirates. It discovers new lands of understanding and calms turbulent emotions through prevention.
We observe parents seeking support from the Fundacja Dajemy Dzieciom Siłę and we know that most of them want to be good caregivers for their children. We also know that for many of them, strong emotions, which are part of ordinary parenting experiences, can deplete their mental resources. In such situations, parents may sometimes struggle to connect with their own children, are not supportive of them, and do not provide a sense of security.
According to the Counseling Center, a parent should be like a lighthouse. Giving a sense of peace, warmth, and illuminating the way for the child. Able to look at the child from a different perspective to understand them well. The team of specialists helps parents regain balance, self-confidence, and a sense of agency. Ultimately, it also supports them in improving their relationship with their child, if necessary.
In our work, we think of a parent as a lighthouse. With the light of their attention and curiosity directed towards the child, they can see them better, more clearly, more authentically. When a parent wonders what feelings, thoughts, or beliefs lie behind the child's behavior, when they try to see the world through their eyes – they use the illuminating beam of their lighthouse. This metaphorical light helps the parent understand what is happening in the child's mind and consequently respond sensitively to their needs.
