A modern "handyman," personal assistant, advisor, home helper, and entertainment center – we're talking, of course, about smartphones. This modern device has so many useful applications that as many as 8 out of 10 surveyed young people use it in their daily lives almost non-stop – according to a study that is part of Deutsche Bank's report "Financial Portrait of Poles 2015. Plans for 2016."
Try to close your eyes for a moment and imagine life without a smartphone. Does this vision scare you? It definitely scares us. For Vikings and a host of other young people, a smartphone has long ceased to be just a phone, a mere means of communication with another person. It's our best source of information, an entertainment hub, a practical and round-the-clock helper in any difficult situation. So it's no wonder that we so often and willingly look into these small screens, seeking support and fun behind them.
The results of the study conducted by Deutsche Bank among smartphone and tablet owners indicate that people aged 18 to 24 are significantly more likely to use the former devices, checking them almost every moment (as many as 41% of respondents) or at most once an hour (39% of those surveyed). However, when comparing the respondents' answers without age group division, the largest group – 37% of respondents – uses a smartphone only a few times a day. Therefore, it can be safely stated that it is young people who have learned to fully utilize the functionality of these modern phones; they cannot and simply do not want to live without them anymore.
The survey shows that tablets are significantly less interesting, convenient to use, and functional. As many as 60% of respondents use these devices only twice a day or even less often. They only surpass smartphones in one aspect – we are more willing to perform complex financial operations on them.
