So, how do you do it?
A phone number, along with an email address, has become a very valuable prize, not only from the perspective of potential, legal sales of services, but also for practices far less compliant with the letter of the law. 🚨 In an era when scammers and swindlers have reached a new level of cunning, a prior "screening" of an unknown number in a search engine is a reliable sign that you are aware of the threat. Data leaks from social media services make us an even more tempting morsel for potential fraudsters. We could write a rather extensive essay about the multitude of threats. However, what are the direct steps to effectively block a number?
By way of "common sense": before you decide to block a number and do it instinctively - make sure the number you want to block is not an important contact that you don't recognize by number, and at the same time, haven't saved in your address book yet. 🤦♂️ We're saying this based on the experiences of... another Viking ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
🤖 Android Phone 🤖
If you have an Android phone, blocking a number works as follows:
- Open the ‘Phone’ app, then ‘more’, and go to the call history.
- Find the number to block.
- Then, select ‘block/report SPAM’.
🍏 iPhone 🍏
If you use an iPhone, the process is almost identical:
- Open ‘Contacts’ and then select the ‘Recents’ tab.
- Locate the number to block, and then on the right side, click on the ‘i’.
- In the available options, select the one marked in red, which is ‘block this person’.
From now on, you can enjoy unrestricted freedom and calls only from friends you actually want to receive calls from. 🧉 Of course, there's nothing stopping you from applying a similar trick to friends if you want to limit contact to Messenger only. Two important questions remain to be answered.
Can it be undone, unblocked?
Of course, the number won't unblock itself unless it's done manually in the settings, where you can also see a list of all unwanted parties. 🔓
