Ahoy to parental loneliness in the challenges of parenting! The Viking community showed its horns, filling the 11th Lifeboat. A cumulative of 1773 Vikings donated GB, the most in the entire history of this noble campaign. What will we spend the collected funds on? What additional activities will you soon see on the horizon?
A Parent as a Lighthouse and a Safe Haven
Although parenthood is a wonderful adventure, it can rock the boat considerably. Sometimes you might hit a sandbank, and a little Viking on board might start a mutiny. You find yourself sailing without a map, as if on turbulent ocean waters. We bring different behavioral patterns from home, and – whether we want to or not – children can unconsciously replicate them.
Through it all, we want to be good caregivers. This can be mentally exhausting. Experts from the Parent Counseling Lighthouse – a project of the Give Children Strength Foundation – know this well. Why this name?
It is the parent who is perceived as a lighthouse. With their attention and curiosity, they illuminate the child, so they can see them more clearly and authentically. They wonder what lies behind a child’s specific behavior. They want to see the world through their child’s eyes and, for this purpose, use the illuminating beam of their lighthouse. It is this “light” that supports the parent in understanding the child’s intentions and responding to their needs.
Such an attentive parent is always available when the child needs them – they are a safe haven for them. And the experts from the Counseling Center help parents become such a haven for their children. They take parents on a sea voyage. They explain why children sometimes behave like little pirates. They discover new lands of understanding and calm turbulent emotions through prevention.
And we will add wind to their sails ⛵ by supporting their activities.

Record Collection – A Ton of Engaged Vikings!
In the previous edition, the Vikings broke the speed record for filling the Lifeboat. You really put your backs into it, and it only took you 3 days!
This time, we wanted as many Vikings as possible to take part in the 11th Lifeboat voyage. That's why everyone could donate 20 GB at once. And we succeeded! You broke the engagement record: as many as 1773 Vikings shared their accumulated gigs, and the Lifeboat was filled to the last gigabyte 💪. Helmets off!
What will we use the collected GB for?
We are now turning the collected 40,000 GB into gold, i.e., 20,000 PLN. With it, we will support the activities of the Parent Counseling Lighthouse, thus funding (thanks to your GB) free:
- psychological and psychiatric consultations,
- therapy sessions,
- psychoeducational workshops,
- support groups,
- therapeutic groups in the spirit of mentalization and perceiving the parent as a lighthouse.
Plans for the continuation of the Lifeboat voyage
Helping is not a short kayak trip, but a loooong voyage. That's why we're not stopping at collecting gigs. Where will we sail next?
